Aquamarine - color, price

Natural aquamarine occurs in green-blue and dark green colors. Due to its color, it can be confused with topaz. Its distinctive feature is dichroism (two-color effect), which involves a change in color from blue to colorless depending on the orientation of the crystal against a non-metallic surface. It is considered that the most valuable aquamarines are those with a pure blue color, while stones that contain inclusions of other minerals are of lesser value. In jewelry, stones with the highest price are most commonly used, namely those with an exceptional, light blue color. Aquamarine stones are translucent or transparent, making all inclusions or air bubbles perfectly visible. In some stones, especially those with a cabochon cut, the cat's eye phenomenon can be observed. Some stones undergo heat treatment to achieve a beautiful and deep blue color.

Aquamarine - application

The aquamarine stone has been used in various fields since ancient times. Already in the 3rd century BC, intaglios were made from it - mainly with maritime themes, because it was believed that aquamarine protects during sea voyages. From the 14th century in Europe, it was used as a colored lens during spectacles. Above all, however, aquamarines are valued in jewelry. Due to their unique luster and elegance, aquamarine stones are used in various types of jewelry, such as bracelets, rings, or necklaces. Aquamarines in jewelry are often combined with diamonds or other gemstones such as topaz or quartz. In our store, you will find mainly faceted aquamarines – both pairs, which you can use to create unique earrings, and specimens. It is precisely the faceted cut that highlights everything that is most beautiful in these gemstones. We have a wide offer of this mineral, so you can also buy aquamarine crystals and cabochons made from this mineral here.
