It is considered that the most valuable aquamarines are those with a pure blue color, while stones that contain inclusions of other minerals are of lesser value. In jewelry, stones with the highest price are most commonly used, namely those with an exceptional, light blue color. Aquamarine stones are translucent or transparent, making all inclusions or air bubbles perfectly visible. In some stones, especially those with a cabochon cut, the cat's eye phenomenon can be observed. Some stones undergo heat treatment to achieve a beautiful and deep blue color.

Already in the 3rd century BC, intaglios were made from it - mainly with maritime themes, because it was believed that aquamarine protects during sea voyages.
