Rhodochrosite - color

Rhodochrosite gemstone mainly occurs in pink, but specimens can also be found in colors such as red, reddish-brown, gray, orange, white, or brown. Its beautiful raspberry color is attributed to manganese, while other shades result from the presence of trace elements such as calcium, zinc, iron, cobalt, and magnesium. The surface of rhodochrosite stones typically displays darker and lighter layers, forming various patterns. Due to its color, rhodochrosite stones are sometimes mistaken for rhodonite, rose quartz, or pink tourmaline.
